Property Description

Bodegas Tisalaya – Rural Villa in Lanzarote
Imagine waking up to the views of volcanoes and mountains. Just as if you were to be transported back to 1736 after the eruptions in Timanfaya took place. A black and red landscape dotted with palm trees and grapevines greets you as you get ready to set off for your morning walk around the fields. This rural house doesn’t just offer accommodation, but a unique Lanzarote experience.

Bodegas Tisalaya is a recently renovated, 200 year old rural villa in Lanzarote divided into 3 dwellings, located in the outskirts of Tinajo. The central rental property is composed of the house itself which uses 100% renewable energy, the barbeque area and the large grapevine fields which are spread all around. Thanks to the respectful restoration and the unique architecture, the country house vibe has been very well preserved.
The property has a tastefully decorated living room with flat screen TV and rural wifi.
There are also 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin. Each bedroom consists of a lower floor with the wardrobe and dresser area. The beds are on the top floor. This arrangement is called a ´troja´in Spanish. There is also one full bathroom with shower located inside the house and another bathroom with toilet and sink in the BBQ area. All furniture, mattresses and appliances have been chosen with our clients’ comfort in mind.

The house also enjoys a fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven, coffee maker, microwave, fridge and all the pots, pans and kitchenware you will need to cook your favourite meals. Just above the kitchen is the dining room with spectacular views of the garden, grapevines and volcanoes. Due to the way the property is situated you can enjoy spectacular mountain, volcano and lava views from every room in the house.

Just outside is the terrace and garden with table and chairs where you can enjoy breakfast. To the left you will find a lovely BBQ area with table, wood oven, and its own room with electric hob and sink.

As you will see in the photos, the house is surrounded by grapevines and fields. Feel free to take a walk around and breath in the smells of nature. These fields are owned by the owners of the house and are taken care of 365 days a year. We kindly ask you to keep to the path such that you may enjoy but not touch or trample over the vines. August is the time we call ´vendimia´ – the grape harvest. This is when the property really comes to life. Farmers from around the island come to this area called La Geria to harvest the land and collect grapes for the season. In this time of year the fields are green and the vines are bursting with colour from the ripe grapes. Surely, one of the farmers will be glad to give you some to take back with you.
Important Information
Being a rural house, Bodegas Tisalaya uses 100% renewable energy which means that all hot water and electricity is produced by solar panels. The sun’s energy is converted into electricity and stored in the battery. During the day, especially on a sunny day, one can make use of all electric appliances such as microwave, washing machine, oven, coffee maker, dishwasher etc. These appliances use up a large amount of energy and thus their use during the evening and night is not advised.

After the sun goes down the house will be using up the energy from the battery which is limited. However this is more than enough for lighting, TV, rural Wifi , fridge and other smaller appliances. The hob is gas therefore you will be able to cook, heat water etc at any time of the day. Don’t be discouraged, Lanzarote enjoys sun 300 days of the year and you are surely going to have a really comfortable stay. The water is also heated with solar energy, so during the sunny hours the hot water will be unlimited. However after the sun goes down one needs to be respectful with the hot water usage.
Good to Know!
The house doesn’t use any heaters, fans or AC, as ambient temperature is regulated naturally. All the walls are quite thick which means that they retain the heat in the winter but keep the house cool and fresh in the warm summer months. Also if you open 2 windows at opposite ends, the current created is like natural air conditioning. You will surely be surprised at how efficient this is.
The Area
The area of Tisalaya is a great starting point for enthusiasts who like outdoor sports like, running, trail running, hiking, mountain biking etc. Many walking routes start here, and we invite you to set out for an adventure every day by making up your own routes through the spectacular landscape.

Even though the area is rural, the nearest town and mini market is about 10 minutes drive away. It is also good to note that the road to the property is a bit off the beaten track, the better for your privacy and quiet rest.
